MTN Snapshots Welcomes You

Thanks for visiting my site. I am Rob Moore and have been doing photography for several years now and love the new challenges given to me in life every day. I am a veteran and support the troops totally and unconditionally. My photography is an extention of my eye and what I see so I love to pass it to the viewer.

My work is regularly viewed at the Watauga Democrat, Mountain Times, and online at various sites like GoASU. Please feel free to contact me or shoot me an email and thanks for the visit. The above image is from MerleFest 2010 of Dierks Bently and Sam Bush jamming for the fans. View more of these images here.

Thanks for visiting my site and enjoy.

Wildlife Photography - Domestic Animals

This otter looks like he's smiling but it is actually soaking up some sun. After this cold winter it is probably welcome. You can view more of these animals by traveling to Grandfather Mountain or just go to my gallery here to view these guys and the other animals at this location.

Outdoor/Scenery Photography

The mountains of western North Carolina have so much to offer the photographer and that's the top reason I have firmly planted my home in this part of the state. This year I have pledged to myself to do more hiking and going to the special places in this area to collect shots for the viewers. Please check back to see where I have been this summer.

The image above is often one that's overlooked because most everyone is looking out, or forward, while traveling on the mile high bridge atop Grandfather. As you can see it is a mile high at this point and the wind blows like you won't believe. Vist if you get the chance and see for yourself. More images can be found here of Grandfather and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Event Photography - Sports Photography

Shooting events are a treat, especially when it includes the Harlem Globetrotters, and some are very special to the people putting them on. If you need a photographer please consider contacting me for the event. My specialties are festivals, bands and sporting events.

The Harlem Globetrotters had a great show at the Holmes Convocation Center on March 16, 2010.
Check out the images from that show.

Conan O'Brien at Bonnaroo

Conan O'Brien came to Bonnaroo and conquered. He had a couple of comedy skits and also MC'd some of the bands introductions. Here he's introducing the band Dead Weather, one of his favorites, in a Pabst Blue Ribbon shirt. What a plug for that beer. View more Bonnaroo images here.

Let Us Not Forget

Major Williams, of the Appalachian State ROTC, gives a speech on Memorial Day to remind us to not forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. This ceremony kicked off at 7:45 AM and was the first for the day in the High Country.

Cragway View

The view from Cragway is a beautiful one to see and this is just off the Daniel Boone Scout Trail about halfway up. You can even access it by the Cragway trail off the Nuwati trail. In this shot you can see the shadows of the clouds and all the new leaves popping out to receive the sunshine.

This is part two of my quest to travel the Grandfather Mountain trails and take some beautiful pictures. Please email me if you have suggestions or places to go to and get a great shot. Trek 3 will be next wekend.

A Summer Quest to Travel All Grandfather Trails

This is a start to my Spring/Summer quest to travel all of the trails of Grandfather Mountain and the surrounding area. I will also drop in trails from other areas but all images will be recorded and placed on my smugmug gallery so check back to see what area I traveled. This image above is the trail head sign to a well traveled trail. It is a relatively easy trail to travel, until you get to the final climb to Storyteller's Rock, and it should just take part of your day. Next trip, well just check back because I will likely travel up the Scout Trail and down the Caraway Trail back to Nuwati.

More images go here.

Larry Keel and Adam Aaila

Acoustic Duo is Top Knotch

Larry Keel and Adam Aaila graced the town of Boone May 6, at Boone Saloon. This is a very different tour for Larry, who usually tours with his band Natural Bridge, but very good non the less. Their acoustic sets were amazing and the crowd loved every lick. If you get a chance to see these two it is a treat.
