Thanks for visiting my site. I am Rob Moore and have been doing photography for several years now and love the new challenges given to me in life every day. I am a veteran and support the troops totally and unconditionally. My photography is an extention of my eye and what I see so I love to pass it to the viewer.
My work is regularly viewed at the Watauga Democrat, Mountain Times, and online at various sites like GoASU. Please feel free to contact me or shoot me an email and thanks for the visit. The above image is from MerleFest 2010 of Dierks Bently and Sam Bush jamming for the fans. View more of these images here.

This otter looks like he's smiling but it is actually soaking up some sun. After this cold winter it is probably welcome. You can view more of these animals by traveling to Grandfather Mountain or just go to my gallery here to view these guys and the other animals at this location.

The mountains of western North Carolina have so much to offer the photographer and that's the top reason I have firmly planted my home in this part of the state. This year I have pledged to myself to do more hiking and going to the special places in this area to collect shots for the viewers. Please check back to see where I have been this summer.
The image above is often one that's overlooked because most everyone is looking out, or forward, while traveling on the mile high bridge atop Grandfather. As you can see it is a mile high at this point and the wind blows like you won't believe. Vist if you get the chance and see for yourself. More images can be found here of Grandfather and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Shooting events are a treat, especially when it includes the Harlem Globetrotters, and some are very special to the people putting them on. If you need a photographer please consider contacting me for the event. My specialties are festivals, bands and sporting events.
The Harlem Globetrotters had a great show at the Holmes Convocation Center on March 16, 2010.
Check out the images from that show.

The Blowing Rock Winterfest 2010 Polar Plunge attracted about 35 plungers and they came on a day that was really special to the name "winterfest" because it was snowing. People came from Raleigh, Charlotte and surrounding areas. We even had an Elvis show up. Photo by Rob Moore

This was an event held at Beech Mountain Ski Resort for the third year in a row. It's the 2009 3rd Rail Jam. Amateur snowboarders and skiers awed the crowed with jumps and tricks for the winning prize. There were also graffiti artists and hip-hop music for the fans to listen too. It was a great time. Check for more images at mtnsnapshots.smugmug.com/Events/2009-3rd-Rail-Jam-at-Beech.

The Fairview Flyers Unicycle Team, which is from Asheville, N.C., graced the campus of Appalachian State University during the ASU and UNCG basketball game. They put on a very special show by showing the American spirit. They performed to Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" song and the crowd loved them. The team has fourth and fifth graders on it and practices four days a week. They perform halftime shows and parades. They have also performed at Disney.

This female cardinal was trying to move this little sparrow but it didn't work out too well for the cardinal. She had to wait her turn because the sparrow held its ground. This was an event that took place at the "airport" birdfeeder all day long. The feeder had cardinals, bluejays, chickadees, sparrows, juncos, nuthatches, titmouses and even a red-bellied woodpecker. Yes, it was a complete day, very cold one indeed, to view and watch the birds taking turns at the feeder. I was glad to be able to provide the food to help sustain thier energy for the winter day.

This is a scene from Howards Creek Road. It was like this all over the county and into Ashe County. At one time 12,000+ people were out of power, me included, and it took several crews from Blue Ridge Electric to get power back on in most parts. There are still some without power. Watauga County was in a state of emergency because of the power outages and just the way this storm laid down its ice. I have heard this was the worst since 1983. Anyway, this storm made the area look like a war zone with the trees down and ripped off at the top. It sure sounded like it when you stepped outside.
